Christopher Columbus has stopped in Bahamas that is the part of the Americas, on October 12th, 1492. Columbus Day is said to celebrate this arrival of Christopher Columbus. Columbus was an Italian sailor who has performed and organized several journeys in Asian countries in 1400 A.D., born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. He has sailed with three ships and 90 crew members on the journey that made him to land in the Bahamas.

Unofficially, Columbus Day has been celebrated and honoured in the U.S. since the late 1700s, but never become an official holiday anywhere until 1906, and it became state holiday in Colorado. Columbus Day is also celebrated in several countries including: Latin America, the Bahamas, Spain, Argentina, Belize and Uruguay.
